NOTE: Anyone who wants to go on callout MUST be a member of the Climbing Club. For more info on how to join, check out the "About/How to Join" page
What is Callout?
Callout is quite possibly the most popular event the climbing club offers. If you love climbing, camping, or just generally being outdoors, callout is a must! It is a weekend-long climbing trip which typically happens once a semester. Callout trips don’t require any climbing experience and are a great way to experience outdoor climbing with lots of fellow beginners. The club’s officers and veteran members set up everything, so there’s no need to worry about needing to have prior climbing knowledge. It’s a lot like going to the climbing gym, but MUCH MUCH better!
What to Bring
Jackson Falls is a primitive campground, which means it has no running water or bathrooms. There is one pit toilet by the parking lot, but there’s not a real opportunity to use it during the day, as the climbing is down in the gorge.
· Climbing Shoes*
· Food
· Water (it’s recommended you have at least a gallon per person per day)
· Headlamp/flashlight
· Toilet Paper
· Silverware, cookware, bowls/plates/cups
· Sleeping Bag*
· Sleeping Pad*
· Tent*
· Multiple layers of comfortable clothing (pants are good to keep the bugs and poison ivy at bay)
· Rain jacket
· Sunscreen/insect repellent
*Available for rental at the ARC Adventure Center
How do I get to callout?
Everyone is responsible for finding their own way to Jackson Falls for callout. The club helps make this an easier process by providing a Google doc with car and tent sign-ups so people can carpool. Anyone is welcome to add their car or tent to the list if they would like to. It is also important to remember that everyone is expected to pay their share of gas to the driver, so bring some cash for gas money. For those who don't know how to get to Jackson Falls, directions can be found at the bottom of the "Links" page.
